Dutch PM Expresses Concern Over US Tariffs on EU Products
Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof has labeled the US decision to impose a 30% tariff on EU products as "worrying." The tariffs, set to take effect on August 1, have drawn criticism from mayors, industry representatives, and political leaders across Europe. Schoof emphasized the Netherlands' full support for the EU, urging unity and decisive action to reach a mutually beneficial resolution with the US.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen warned that the tariffs WOULD create a "lose-lose situation," potentially jeopardizing thousands of US jobs and reducing transatlantic trade. She reiterated the EU's commitment to dialogue but stressed readiness to defend its economic interests. French leaders have also hinted at possible countermeasures if no agreement is reached by August.
